With the unprecedented growth of Healthcare Industry, there has been an incredible change in the requirement of Hospitals. Now it has to take care of several departments like Marketing, Human resource, Inventory, Budgeting, Laundry, Housekeeping, Dietary etc. It is more like a Service Industry now. Due to this change, there is a marked distinction between the Medical services and Administration. While the Medical Staff handles the medical responsibilities, the Administration is handled by Healthcare Managers. The curriculum has been designed to cover the conceptual and quantitative skills needed by the healthcare managers in high performing contemporary hospitals. The programme combines classroom teaching with hands on training in the hospital and case studies. The formal course work is divided into four semesters, with an internal assessment at the end of Semester 1 and 3 and Annual University examination at the end of First Year (Semester 2) and Final year (Semester 4) respectively. The four broad subject areas covered are General Management, Health Administration, Hospital : Planning, Project and Management & Management of Clinical and Non Clinical Services. The Project based Hospital training is mandatory in the final year.
